In 1940 the BUPA (British United Provident Association) storyline began. They are a huge organisation who provides healthcare for the United Kingdom and now many more other countries. As by the 1960′s BUPA then had a huge four hundred thousand customers and also then four thousand company groups.
Even though BUPA’s client base was rapidly building there services then went overseas to Malta in 1971, although they were going overseas in 1975 BUPA hospitals were then established. BUPA then went international and not only wanted to provide a service within the UK and a few other countries they wanted to also help those people who had to work outside the UK and therefore provide a service worldwide which then lead to the expansion even further into Asia.
Not only then did BUPA think they wanted to expand even further they decided to train doctors by working with universities postgraduates’ in1986. Again BUPA seemed to stop at nothing as they then opened a twenty four hour help line for customers in 1988. As you can see BUPA are becoming a huge international company and are looking to try and dip their toe into every market possible within healthcare and this is where BUPA dental care came about in 1994 as they had nearly three thousand dentists looking after a large number of patients. Whilst then provide travel insurance.
BUPA started care homes for the elderly in 1996 and progressively expanded into many different companies all over the world for example in Australia, New Zealand, China the Caribbean and various others.
One segment of BUPA is providing a service within the protection market, selling products such as life and critical illness insurance, which is known as one the best contracts offered today as they cover a large number of critical illnesses. This may come at a slightly greater cost than its competitors but its brand name just keeps on selling the product as it widely known throughout the UK as a premium brand.
